Our team is one of the most highly trained in the area. While most therapists are credentialed as MS, MA, MSW or LCSW (requiring only 4-6 years of training), we take pride in the fact that our team is made up of many Doctors, Psy.Ds or PhDs (meaning 8-10 years of experience). Our extensive experience means that we can handle the conditions from the most challenging to the struggles typical of modern life.

Experience: President and Founder of the Center for Personal Growth, holds a Doctorate and Masters in Counseling Psychology. She is a Licensed Psychologist with over 30 years of experience helping individuals and organizations solve problems.

Specialties: I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families. My goal is to help my clients improve their moods as well as their relationships with others.

Approach to Therapy: I find that helping my clients develop insight into why they do what they do helps them immensely. You can’t change what you don’t acknowledge! I work relentlessly to ensure that my clients obtain their goals for a lifetime of satisfaction, happiness, fulfillment and success.

Personal Interests: I love being a business owner and I love being a Mom to my little munchkins, Max and Mason. For fun, I enjoy fitness and travel.

Karen Haake, LMHC, NCC

Experience: I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with a Master’s of Arts in Counseling and am a National Certified Counselor. I have over twenty-five years’ experience working with children, adolescents, teens and their families. I was a teacher for over twelve years and later a school guidance counselor.

Specialties: I work with children and teens on the Autism Spectrum.  I also work with the geriatric population. As well as any clients who are experiencing depression, PTSD, anxiety, or anger management struggles.

Approach to therapy: I know that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps people change the thoughts that often create anxiety, depression, hopelessness, anger, and other dysfunctions. A change in our thinking can reset the wiring in the brain, increasing overall functioning.

Personal interests: Reading, exercising, gardening, and being with my family and friends.

Licensed Physiologist, Dr, Sabrina Molton family therapyDR. SABRINA MOLDEN, PhD

After receiving a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill and completion of a Clinical Internship in Medical Psychology from Duke University Medical Center, my 40 year career has been equally split between work in private practice (including ownership) and in hospital (outpatient and inpatient) settings.
My training and experience have been with all age groups from early childhood to old age, providing psychological testing for developmental disabilities (children) and cognitive impairment (elderly) as well as psychotherapy. In addition to work across the age span, additional specialties are geropsychology, medical/health psychology, treatment of adult survivors of child abuse/PTSD and treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders.
Therapeutic Approach:
My approach is integrative/eclectic, using elements from a variety of evidenced-based treatment techniques to meet each client’s individualized goals. Being highly spiritual and empathetic, I cannot achieve therapeutic success without establishment of a supportive, meaningful relationship with each client. This is imperative to me and has always come easily and naturally to me in my work.
My husband and I moved to this area just a few years ago to be present and active in the lives of our two adult sons and their growing families. I consider rearing them to be successful adults to have been my greatest life accomplishment. I am also known for being an avid reader (100 books a year) and always immersed in a variety of creative activities. Combining these loves, I have a large social media presence with the  highest number of followers on my reading-themed Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“What a great place. It has really helped someone I care about.”

Many of the cheaper therapy sites like aren’t actually classified as therapy (read the find print) and many therapists on these sites simply don’t have the time or insight to help you with your problems. Local therapy groups like ours can help you get reconnected with yourself without the hassle of getting “burned” by these online advice providers, but keep the same convenience as online.

Ever since the coronavirus made it a neccessity for our practice, we have embraced virtual counseling. If you reside in North Carolina you are eligible for our insurance covered tele-health sessions. We know that it can seem awkward talking over the computer, but we do our best to make it as engaging as possible. Sticking it out pays off, as research shows that online therapy is as effective as in person. Source:
